Nagarkot is a hilltop village 32 kilometres east of Kathmandu at 2,195 metres altitude, famous for offering one of the most sweeping panoramas of the Himalayan range available anywhere — on clear days the view stretches from Dhaulagiri in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east, with Everest visible in between. Sunrise from Nagarkot is a classic Himalayan experience, and the village is a popular overnight stop for trekkers on the Kathmandu Valley rim trail.
