Puerto Galera is a municipality on the northern coast of Mindoro island, about three hours by road and ferry from Manila, and Sabang Beach is its most famous dive site area. The waters around Puerto Galera are part of the Verde Island Passage, considered by scientists to be the 'centre of the centre of marine biodiversity' in the world, with over 50 dive sites ranging from gentle coral gardens to dramatic drop-offs.
