Komodo Island is part of the Komodo National Park in East Nusa Tenggara, the only place on earth where the Komodo dragon — the world's largest lizard, reaching 3 metres in length — lives in the wild. The island is also surrounded by some of the richest marine biodiversity on the planet, a result of powerful currents mixing cold and warm water that attract manta rays, whale sharks, diverse reef sharks, and colourful pygmy seahorses. The combination of primeval land predators and spectacular underwater life in a dramatic volcanic landscape makes Komodo one of Indonesia's most extraordinary destinations.
