Airport Tourism
Lombok is an island east of Bali that has long lived in its neighbour's shadow but offers equally compelling attractions at a fraction of the crowds. The Gili Islands — three small coral-fringed islands off Lombok's northwest coast — are famous for their turquoise water, sea turtle encounters, and the rule that no motorised vehicles are permitted, giving them a timeless tranquillity. On the main island, the active volcano Gunung Rinjani (3,726 metres) is Indonesia's second-highest peak and one of the finest multi-day trekking destinations in Southeast Asia, while Selong Belanak and Mawi beaches are considered among the best surf breaks in the archipelago.
