Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands off the northwest coast of Malaysia, a duty-free haven known for its pristine beaches, clear waters, and lush rainforest. The island's duty-free status makes alcohol and chocolate unusually affordable by Malaysian standards, while the scenic cable car ascending Gunung Mat Cincang, the mangrove boat tours, and the beaches of Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah attract a steady stream of tourists.
