Ko Phi Phi
Thailand
Tourism
Ko Phi Phi is an archipelago in Krabi province consisting of the inhabited Ko Phi Phi Don and the uninhabited Ko Phi Phi Leh — whose Maya Bay, ringed by vertical limestone cliffs, became globally famous as the filming location for the movie 'The Beach'. The main island has a car-free village, lively party atmosphere, and outstanding diving and snorkelling around the surrounding reefs, Shark Point, and Bida Nok. The islands are reached by ferry from Krabi town (1.5 hours) or Phuket (2 hours); the nearest airports are Krabi (KBV) and Phuket (HKT). Maya Bay operates crowd-management quotas and is subject to seasonal closures to allow reef recovery.
