Ko Lipe
Thailand
Tourism
Ko Lipe is a small island in the Tarutao National Marine Park in Satun province at the southern tip of Thailand, often dubbed the 'Maldives of Thailand' for its powdery white beaches and strikingly clear turquoise water. Sunrise Beach (Hat Chao Le) and Sunset Beach frame an island small enough to walk end-to-end in twenty minutes. The surrounding reefs offer outstanding snorkelling and diving, and the island sits just 6 km from Pulau Langkawi in Malaysia, making it possible to cross by ferry. Ko Lipe is reached by boat from Pak Bara jetty in Satun province (about 1.5 hours), with Hat Yai Airport (HDY, ~2 hours by minivan to Pak Bara) as the nearest mainland air gateway.
