Ko Lanta is a long, narrow island in Krabi province on Thailand's Andaman coast, favoured by families and long-stay visitors for its relaxed atmosphere and quieter beaches compared to the busier resorts of Phi Phi and Ao Nang. The west-coast beaches — Klong Dao, Long Beach, and Kantiang — offer long stretches of sand with magnificent sunset views over the Andaman Sea. The Mu Ko Lanta National Park at the southern tip protects primary forest and excellent snorkel and dive sites. Ko Lanta Old Town on the east coast is an atmospheric Malay-Chinese fishing village with wooden houses on stilts over the water. Access is by ferry from Krabi town or Ko Phi Phi; the nearest airport is Krabi International (KBV).
