Tourism
Little India is Singapore's most sensory neighbourhood, a kaleidoscope of flower garlands, incense smoke, sari shops, and Tamil film music centred on Serangoon Road. The Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple with its towering gopuram (gate tower) adorned with hundreds of painted deities is the spiritual heart of the district, while the Mustafa Centre — a 24-hour shopping emporium carrying everything from gold jewellery to Indian groceries — draws bargain hunters at all hours. The authentic curry houses, banana leaf restaurants, and the Tekka Centre wet market make Little India one of the best places in Asia to eat South Indian food.
