Redang Island

Pulau Redang is one of Malaysia's most pristine coral islands, a protected marine park in the South China Sea off the coast of Terengganu with some of the clearest water and healthiest reefs in the region. The waters around the island shelter green and hawksbill turtles, blacktip reef sharks, and colourful parrotfish on hard coral gardens that attract divers from across Southeast Asia. The main beach on the northwest side (Pasir Panjang) is lined with resort chalets behind powdery white sand. Redang is accessible by speedboat from Shahbandar jetty near Kuala Terengganu (TGG, about 45 minutes) and has a small airstrip with occasional flights from Subang via Berjaya Air. The island closes from November to February during the northeast monsoon.
