Myawaddy is a border town in Kayin State on the Moei River, directly facing the Thai town of Mae Sot across the Friendship Bridge. It is Myanmar's busiest land border crossing with Thailand and the main gateway for overland travellers entering Myanmar from the west. The town has basic guesthouses and transport connections south towards Hpa-An and Yangon.
