Xieng Khouang is a province in the highlands of northeastern Laos, home to the mysterious Plain of Jars — a landscape scattered with hundreds of ancient stone jars of unknown origin, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The province was one of the most heavily bombed areas in history during the Vietnam War era, and the scars of that conflict remain visible alongside the archaeological wonders.
