Mae Hong Son is a remote mountain town in the far northwest of Thailand near the Myanmar border, set in a misty valley surrounded by forested hills. The town is known for its Burmese-influenced temples reflected in the morning mist on Jong Kham Lake, the long-neck Karen hill tribes of the surrounding villages, and the spectacular Mae Hong Son Loop — one of Thailand's great motorcycle routes through the mountains.
