Japanese ordinary passport holders benefit from a bilateral 15-day visa exemption with Laos. The exemption is granted on arrival at any international port of entry — airports and land border crossings alike — and requires no advance application. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. For stays longer than 15 days, Japanese citizens must apply for the Lao e-Visa (USD 50, online at laoevisa.gov.la) or obtain a Visa on Arrival (USD 50) at the border.
