The e-Visa grants a single 30-day stay and is valid for 60 days from the date of issue. IMPORTANT: it is only accepted at designated entry points — Wattay International Airport (Vientiane), Luang Prabang International Airport, Pakse International Airport, Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge I (Vientiane), and Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge II (Savannakhet). It is NOT accepted at land crossings with Vietnam, Cambodia, or China. For other crossings, use the Visa on Arrival. The stay can be extended once for 30 days (USD 35) at any Lao immigration office.

Cost is USD 50, single entry, 30-day stay. Requirements: 1 passport-size photo, USD 50 cash, completed arrival form. Processing is usually quick (10–20 minutes) though it can be slower at busy crossings or outside official hours. The stay can be extended once for 30 days (USD 35) at any Lao immigration office. Unlike the e-Visa, no advance application is needed — simply present yourself at the immigration counter.
