Chinese ordinary passport holders may enter Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days per visit under the permanent bilateral visa exemption agreement signed in 2024. No advance application is needed — the exemption is stamped on arrival at any international port of entry. Land border entry is limited to 2 exemptions per calendar year; air entry has no such cap. Passport must be valid for at least 30 days from the date of entry. Extensions of up to 30 days may be requested at an Immigration office in Thailand.

The Thai e-Visa system allows applicants to apply online without visiting an embassy. Tourist visas (TR) are issued for 60 days single-entry. Multiple-entry tourist visas (METV) valid for 6 months with 60-day stays per entry are also available. Applications take 3–5 business days. Payment is by credit card. This is the recommended route for travellers planning stays beyond 30 days or requiring a METV. Nepalese and Sri Lankan passport holders use the eVisa as their standard entry route. Indian nationals may choose the eVisa as a convenient alternative to the Visa on Arrival.
