⛴️ Hai Phong Seaport
Sea Port · Vietnam
Hai Phong is Vietnam's third-largest city and its most important northern deep-water port, handling the majority of container traffic for the Hanoi region. For cruise ships, Hai Phong serves as the gateway to Halong Bay — the UNESCO-listed emerald bay of karst limestone islands 60 km east — and to the capital Hanoi (100 km west). The port has a working industrial character, but the city centre has attractive French colonial architecture and a lively street food scene. Hai Phong played a significant role in the Vietnam War as the main supply port for North Vietnam; the city was heavily bombed and the history is palpable. The port is safe and organised; cruise immigration is processed efficiently on board.
