Kaam Samnor–Vinh Xuong is the Mekong River crossing between Kandal Province (Cambodia) and An Giang Province (Vietnam), and the entry point for the legendary slow-boat route from Phnom Penh to Chau Doc through the upper Mekong Delta. Travellers depart Phnom Penh by speedboat or slow boat, pass through immigration at the riverside posts, and continue to Chau Doc — a bustling Vietnamese river town famous for its floating markets, fish sauce, and the nearby Sam Mountain. From Chau Doc, buses and boats continue to Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City. The crossing is open roughly 7:00 to 17:00. Cambodia e-Visa and visa-on-arrival are available; Vietnam e-Visa is accepted. The river itself is the border — officials board the boat to check documents, which gives the crossing an informal, almost cinematic quality. Minor unofficial fees are common but small. The Mekong at this point is wide, brown, and teeming with life: floating villages of Cham Muslims and Khmer fishermen line the Vietnamese bank, and the transition into Vietnam feels gradual and organic rather than abrupt.
