The Prek Chak–Ha Tien crossing on the Gulf of Thailand coast is the most scenic of the Cambodia–Vietnam land borders, connecting the sleepy Cambodian beach towns of Kampot, Kep, and Sihanoukville with the historic Vietnamese town of Ha Tien and onwards to the Mekong Delta. Ha Tien itself is a charming, under-visited Vietnamese coastal town with a French colonial flavour, limestone karst scenery, and proximity to Phu Quoc Island (accessible by ferry). On the Cambodian side, shared taxis connect to Kep (30 min) and Kampot (1 hour). The border is open daily 8:00 to 17:00. Cambodia e-Visa and visa-on-arrival are available; Vietnam e-Visa is accepted. The crossing is peaceful, relatively quiet, and officials are generally professional. Minor informal fees are occasionally requested outside regular hours. The coastal setting — mangroves, fishing boats, and distant limestone islands — makes this a pleasant border crossing rather than a bureaucratic chore.
