🚌 Laos Vietnam Namkan NhapCanh
Terrestrial · Vietnam
Nhap Canh–Nam Khan is a northern mountain crossing between Lao Cai Province (Vietnam) and Luang Namtha Province (Laos), used by travellers combining northern Laos with the highland areas of northwestern Vietnam around Sa Pa and Lao Cai. Sleeper buses between Luang Prabang and Hanoi use this route, with the total journey taking 22–26 hours. The road on both sides is winding mountain highway through dense forest and minority-group villages. Open approximately 7:30 to 17:00. Lao e-Visa is not accepted here; a sticker visa from a Lao embassy is required. Vietnam e-Visa is accepted on the Vietnamese side. The crossing sees light traffic and immigration is generally relaxed and straightforward. The mountain landscape — cloud forest, Akha and Hmong villages, and terraced hillsides — is among the most visually striking of any crossing in the region.
